Email from parent

Subject: Email from parent Tue Jun 18, 2024 7:30 am

This email was send through our Forum contact form last night. I am very proud of my little brother, and this email says it all.

Hello Teen Lounge Owners, and staff members,

My son, who is age 14 is a member of Teen Lounge, and has been since he joined in 2019. He has not usually gone to other chat rooms that I am aware of other than Teen Lounge.

A month ago though, my son joined a chat that was exclusively for gaming enthusiasts. He met a few friends there who he thought was his age. During the time he was a member he also participated in Teen Lounge here he communicated with several friends he has made here. One of his friends, Beckham, he has been close with and even stayed at his house for a couple of weekends.

To get to the point of this email, my son was being groomed in the gaming chat site by a 58 year old man pretending to be a teenager. At the time he did not realize what what was happening, as he was pretty excited about meeting this new friend in the gaming site. There were little red flags my son should have seen in his conversations with this friend that he missed. He talked to Beckham a few times about this new friend and Beckham told him something was not right, and asked to see part of the conversation, and after doing so Beckham told him that the new friend was not a teenager and to be careful. A day after this my son's new friend in the gaming chat asked for shirtless photos and wanted to know if my son wanted to mutually masturbate over a webcam. When talking to Beckham about it later that day, Beckham told my son "do not do it, it could be all over the web, stop talking to him and tell your parents".
My son debated about this but because of Beckham's persistence, he reported this to us.

We made notifications and were told this was probably a child sex trafficker, or child pornographer that befriended my son. My son has quit the gaming site and understands what dangers were lurking and what could have happened if this so called friendship had continued.

I want to thank Teen Lounge so much and Beckham for recognizing what was happening to my son, and could have happened.

Jeremy and Andrea, you have a 13 year old son that you should be very proud of. Parents who have children that are members of Teen Lounge can be rest assured that this is a very safe place for your kids to hang out at, and that even though it may be operated by kids, these kids are aware of predators, and help the members here,

Beckham is a good person to have as a friend. We have been friends for a long time and we are both in the same grade. I am so happy that things turned out good, instead of what could have happened.
